Well-started Theraphosa blondi (Goliath Birdeater), approximately 1.5 inches in size. This species is one of the largest tarantulas in the world, known for its massive size, thick build, and impressive presence even from a young age.
A New World species, T. blondi is best suited for intermediate to experienced keepers. While generally not aggressive, they can be defensive and are known for their powerful urticating hairs and strong feeding response. Their size and humidity requirements make proper husbandry especially important.
This species thrives in a tropical, high-humidity environment and requires consistently moist substrate with good ventilation. As slings and juveniles, they will burrow and appreciate deep substrate, often creating hidden retreats. As they mature, they may become more visible but will still utilize cover.
