Returns & Refunds policy

At Obsidian Inverts, we take pride in ethically raising and carefully packaging every animal we sell. Due to the nature of live animal sales, all purchases are subject to the policy below.

Live Arrival Guarantee (LAG)

We offer a Live Arrival Guarantee on all animals shipped via approved shipping methods.

To qualify:

  • Someone must be present to receive the package on the first delivery attempt

  • The package must not be delayed due to incorrect address entry

  • Weather conditions must be within safe shipping ranges (we reserve the right to hold shipment during unsafe temperatures)

If an animal arrives DOA (dead on arrival):

  1. You must notify us within 1 hour of delivery

  2. Provide clear photos of the animal in its original, unopened container

  3. Provide a photo of the shipping label

Failure to meet these conditions voids the Live Arrival Guarantee.

If approved, we will offer:

  • A replacement (if available), or

  • Store credit (excluding shipping costs)

Shipping costs are non-refundable.

No Returns

Due to the sensitive nature of live invertebrates, we do not accept returns once an animal has been shipped, picked up, or purchased at a show.

We are not responsible for:

  • Buyer’s remorse

  • Husbandry mistakes

  • Improper enclosure setup

  • Failure to research species care requirements

Please ensure you are prepared for the species you purchase before completing checkout.

Shipping Delays

We are not responsible for carrier delays once the package has been dropped off with the shipping provider. However, we will assist in resolving issues when possible.

Local Pickup Orders

For local pickup orders, animals are considered accepted and healthy once transferred to the buyer.

No Live Arrival Guarantee applies after pickup.

Please inspect your animal at the time of pickup.

Expo / Show Purchases

All sales completed at expos or shows are final.

Animals are inspected and confirmed healthy at the time of purchase. Once the animal leaves our table, responsibility transfers to the buyer.

Refunds

Refunds are only issued:

  • If we are unable to fulfill your order before shipment

  • If a Live Arrival claim is approved and no replacement is available

Refunds do not include shipping costs unless the error was ours.
