Well-started Grammostola rosea (Chilean Rose Hair Tarantula), approximately 1.5 inches in size. Often referred to as the "O.G." of the tarantula hobby, this species has been a staple in the pet trade for decades thanks to its famously calm demeanor, hardiness, and manageable care requirements. Adults display a warm brown-to-black base coloration with a distinctive rosy pink blush across the carapace.

Once one of the most commonly available tarantulas, captive-bred G. rosea have become increasingly uncommon and sought-after due to Chilean export restrictions and the species' notoriously slow growth rate. This makes well-started juveniles a particularly valuable find. G. rosea is widely considered one of the most docile tarantula species in the hobby, often content to sit calmly on a keeper's hand, and is highly tolerant of husbandry mistakes, making it an ideal choice for first-time owners.

As slings and juveniles, they may spend time burrowed into the substrate, sometimes disappearing for extended periods. This is normal behavior and should not cause concern. As they mature, they tend to become more visible and will often sit out in the open near their hide. This species is also known for occasional fasting periods that can last weeks or even months - this is typical Grammostola behavior and not a cause for alarm as long as a water dish is always available.
