A hardy New World species, G. pulchripes is an excellent choice for beginners and experienced keepers alike. They are typically slow-moving, calm, and very manageable, with a steady feeding response. Their easygoing nature makes them one of the best beginner tarantulas in the hobby.
As slings and juveniles, they may burrow when provided with deeper substrate but are generally more prone to sitting out in the open compared to other species. As they mature, they become more visible and make excellent display animals.
