Well-started Grammostola pulchra (Brazilian Black Tarantula), approximately 0.75 inches in size. This highly sought-after species is prized for its deep, velvety black coloration and exceptionally calm demeanor, making it one of the most desirable tarantulas in the hobby.
A hardy New World species, G. pulchra is an excellent choice for beginners and experienced keepers alike. They are known for their slow, gentle movements and tolerant nature, often regarded as one of the most docile tarantulas available. Their steady feeding response and ease of care further add to their appeal.
As slings and juveniles, they may burrow when provided with deeper substrate but are generally more visible than many other species. As they mature, they become excellent display tarantulas, often sitting out in the open.
Due to their slow growth rate and high demand, G. pulchra is considered a premium species in the hobby and is often harder to find compared to other beginner tarantulas.
