An Old World species, C. darlingi is best suited for experienced keepers. They are fast, defensive, and possess medically significant venom. Rather than relying on urticating hairs, they may display threat postures and will not hesitate to defend themselves if disturbed.
This species is a heavy burrower and will benefit from deep, slightly moist substrate to create extensive tunnel systems. As slings and juveniles, they may remain hidden for long periods, using their burrow as a primary retreat. Providing a secure, well-structured enclosure is key to their success.
