Well-started Bonnetina minax (Mexican Copperhead Tarantula), approximately 1 inches in size. This species is known for its dark overall coloration with subtle copper/orange tones, giving it a unique and understated beauty compared to more brightly colored species.
A New World species, B. minax is best suited for intermediate keepers. While generally not aggressive, they can be more defensive and unpredictable than typical beginner species. They are known to kick urticating hairs and may display threat postures when disturbed.
As slings and juveniles, they tend to burrow heavily and may remain hidden for extended periods. Providing deep substrate is important to support natural behavior. Even as they mature, they can remain somewhat reclusive, though they may spend more time visible depending on the individual.
