Well-started Aphonopelma chalcodes (Arizona Blonde Tarantula), approximately 0.5 inches in size. This species is known for its beautiful sandy-blonde coloration and is considered one of the most iconic North American tarantulas.
A very hardy New World species, A. chalcodes is one of the best choices for beginners due to its calm temperament and ease of care. They are typically slow-moving, tolerant, and rarely defensive, making them a great introduction to tarantula keeping.
As slings and juveniles, they may burrow when provided with deeper substrate and will appreciate a secure hide. As they mature, they tend to adopt a more terrestrial lifestyle and can often be seen sitting out in the open.
