Sub adult Aphonopelma seemanni (Costa Rican Zebra Tarantula), approximately 3 inches in size. This species is known for its bold black and white striping across the legs, giving it a striking “zebra” appearance that stands out in any collection.

A hardy New World species, A. seemanni is suitable for beginners and intermediate keepers. While generally not aggressive, they can be skittish and quick to retreat, often preferring to hide rather than stand their ground. They have a steady feeding response and are relatively easy to care for.

This species is a heavy burrower, especially as a sling and juvenile. Providing deep substrate is important, as they will create extensive tunnel systems and may spend much of their time underground. With time and proper setup, they may become more visible but will typically maintain a burrow.
