Well-started Aphonopelma bicoloratum (Mexican Blood Leg Tarantula), approximately 1.5 inches in size. This species is prized for its striking coloration, featuring deep black tones contrasted with vibrant red/orange leg segments, making it a standout display tarantula.
A hardy New World species, A. bicoloratum is well-suited for beginners and experienced keepers alike. They are generally calm and slow-moving, though like most Aphonopelma, they may be a bit skittish at times. They tend to have a moderate feeding response and are easy to care for with proper setup.
As juveniles, they may burrow when provided with deeper substrate, but will often become more visible as they mature, adopting a terrestrial lifestyle and spending time out in the open.
